Education activity in the Society is coordinated by the Education team, led by John McMillan, ISTD Education Officer.
The team is comprised of full-time educators who, initially, reflected a geographic spread of the British Isles. Enlarged to address our international activities, the team now includes members from the Middle East and South Africa.
The main activity for the Education team is the Annual Student Assessment Scheme, now running in four
countries and attracting submissions from many more. In its 29th year, it reflects the synergy of the society by bringing together members from practice and from education to assess the work of potential members.
Beyond the Student Assessment Scheme, the development of educational resources is an important focus.
These range from the online archive of student project work, supporting tutors through our network of members and
conducting workshops and lectures on typographic education.
