Following on from its hugely succesful run at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill where it originated, there's another chance to see Ivan Chermayeff – Cut and Paste at Plymouth University. Chermayeff is widely acknowledged by his peers as one of the most influential designers of his era, and the exhibition at the University’s Peninsula Arts Gallery runs until 14 November. Full of inspiring pieces spanning Chermayeff’s long and prolific career, it’s essential viewing for graphic design afficiandos and enthusiasts alike. More dates and venues have been announced by De La Warr Pavilion
The exhibition focuses on the personal side of Chermayeff’s work. Like his contemporary and friend the late great Alan Fletcher HonFISTD, Chermayeff takes simple ideas and materials and translates them into memorable images. The medium of collage utilizing printed ephemera is a hallmark for both designers.
