Typographic 74 | National or Rational? proposes that we are now in a ‘post-national’ era of typographic communication – a time to accept that the top-down model of imposing ‘national typefaces’ is not only undesirable and unachievable, but also shows a misunderstanding of how typefaces become ingrained within our complex cultures and gradually become a reflection of ourselves. The issue features text by typographer and educator Stephen Banham.
